On 15th March 2018 two members of the Thompson Wright team will be swapping their comfy office for an amazing trek to Everest Base Camp.
Mark Barlow and Christian Romero will be taking part in a 12-day trek at altitude covering approximately 115km (71 miles) in total climbing up to 5,643m which is only one of the several peaks of Everest (Kalapattar).
They will walk up to 9 hours per day when the average temperature is 17°C, with a maximum of 25°C during the lovely sunny days and a minimum of -15°C in the morning and at night when they reach the areas above 4000 metres.
On top of that Mark and Christian will be giving up all their home comforts like a warm bed and basic necessities like washing facilities and toilets and the food will be basic.
It’s going to be an amazing experience but more importantly Mark and Christian are doing it to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Cancer affects 1 in every 2 people, a statistic which is far too high, which is why Mark and Christian have chosen to help raise money for the research needed to help Cancer Research UK beat cancer sooner.
The ambition of Cancer Research UK is to accelerate progress and see 3 in 4 people surviving cancer for 10 years or more by 2034.
Please visit Mark and Christian’s Just Giving page via the linked below.
All money donated will be going to Cancer Research UK, none of the money is going towards funding for flights, accommodation or travel costs.
We thank you for any donations and wish Mark and Christian the best of luck on their magnificent trek for such a worthy cause.
