Stoke-on-Trent Powering Up Inward Investment

Stoke-on-Trent is on the rise – and the Stoke-on-Trent Powering Up Inward Investment programme is here to accelerate that momentum. This exciting initiative is designed to attract new businesses, generate quality jobs, and support key sectors that will shape the city’s economic future.

Backed by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the programme offers grant funding between £10,000 and £50,000 to businesses operating in the following priority sectors:

  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Digital
  • Life Sciences
  • Energy sectors

Priority will be given to businesses making their first investment in Stoke-on-Trent, though expansion projects from existing local businesses in these sectors may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

What the Grant Covers

Funding is available for capital expenditure only, including:

  • Plant and machinery
  • Fixtures and fittings

Grants can cover up to 30% of the total capital project cost, with applicants expected to provide match funding. With £325,000 currently available, interested businesses are strongly encouraged to apply before the programme closes in March 2026.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be assessed by a grant evaluation panel and scored based on:

  • Strategic fit with the programme’s objectives
  • Project deliverability within the funding window
  • Compliance with subsidy control and eligibility
  • Economic impact and job creation
  • Regeneration potential for the local area
