Stafford Borough Council has launched a new grant scheme to help local independent businesses grow, funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (2025–26).
What Is Available?
- Grants between £2,000 and £25,000
- Matched funding: 80% from the Council, 20% from the business
- A total of £200,000 has been allocated to the scheme
- Applications are first come, first served, closing 30 November 2025 (subject to funds still being available)
Please note: Projects must be completed within 13 weeks of approval or by 31 March 2026.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible businesses must:
- Be independent, profit-making SMEs based in Stafford Borough
- Have been trading for at least 2 years in commercial premises
- Be privately owned and not a public company (plc)
- Have fewer than 250 employees and a turnover under £44m
Funding can support growth-focused projects, such as:
- Website design, marketing and digital improvements
- Specialist advice or professional services
- New machinery or equipment
- Fitting out of new or existing premises (lighting, IT, cabling, furnishings)
- Staff upskilling (short courses)
- Decarbonisation projects and feasibility studies
